Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: MerDer Strife?

In the interview we posted earlier, guest star Eric Stoltz said his prisoner character, William Dunn, will be the source of some MerDer drama beginning this week.

TV Guide backs that theory up in its Q&A session today, indicating that what has been a season free of MerDer strife so far may soon take a different turn:

Q: Got any scoop on Grey's Anatomy's Meredith and Derek? Do you have any idea when we'll see the McMansion being built?

A: In lieu of talking drywall (there's no foreseeable movement on Derek and Meredith's dream home, unfortunately), may I interest you in some drama? It turns out that the death row inmate who is admitted to Seattle Grace this week could do some damage to your MerDer. Guest star Eric Stoltz teases that during his three-episode arc, "I certainly insinuate myself into their relationship and am the source of not a little strife."

Roommates, Lovers ...

Eric Stoltz Dishes on Grey's Anatomy Character, Episode

There's a killer coming to Seattle Grace. E! Online spoke exclusively with Eric Stoltz about his upcoming three-episode guest starring role on Grey's Anatomy, and what he says about his death-row inmate character sounds downright ominous.

Eric teases about the purpose of his character, which debuts tomorrow in "Wish You Were Here" (follow link for some quality sneak previews): "I would have to say that I insinuate myself in between Mer and Der in a way that isn't exactly helpful."

Hmm. What do you suppose that could mean?

Says Eric (with a fair amount of feigned affrontery), "I'm not about to tell you what happens! Why would anyone do that? I wouldn't want to know what happens!"

Eric Stoltz

Seriously though, who is this fellow, and how does he impact the delicate fabric of relationships - professional and otherwise - at Seattle Grace? As Stoltz tells it:

"My character's name is William Dunn, and he's a death-row inmate who came to Seattle Grace due to the fact that he has a shiv shoved in his back during a fight in the prison yard."

"The nature of his crime is actually revealed in the episode of show that airs on Thursday night, so I would hate to give it away right now."

Five More Sneak Previews of "Wish You Were Here"

Below are five more sneak previews of Thursday's episode, "Wish You Were Here."

As seen in our first sneak peek, a serial killer, played by Eric Stoltz, is transported to the hospital. Bailey is thrown off by a new doctor, Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw), and Mark laments his recent romantic woes to Callie. He's determined not to sleep with Lexie again, but he definitely adores her. Finally, Izzie tells Alex about Denny ... with surprising results.

Here's a great clip of Mark and Callie discussing their respective love lives ...

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: George Staying Put After All?

So strong was the speculation that T.R. Knight wanted off Grey's Anatomy - and would be granted this request - that we went so far as to post our favorite memories of George.

But did everybody jump the gun on the actor's departure, only to see cooler heads prevail? Check out this little item from E! Online's spoiler Q&A session yesterday evening ...

Q: What is the big scoop on Grey's Anatomy?

A: I can tell you T.R. Knight's rumored departure is not a done deal and that last I heard from my sources, there is a possibility they may work it out to have him stay on the series. Anyone else crossing your fingers that he'll stick around?

T.R.

Tyne Daly Cast as Derek's Mother

Here's a minor Grey's Anatomy spoiler / casting note in case you haven't heard about it yet - for the January 15 episode, "Sympathy for the Devil," Tyne Daly (Judging Amy, Cagney and Lacey) has been cast as Derek's mother! Wonder how that will go ...

Tyne Daly

In the episode, the mother of Derek (Patrick Dempsey) will meet Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) for the first time. Will this lead to some Mer-Der drama, which has been lacking? Elsewhere, Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Cristina (Sandra Oh) go on their first real date.

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Sara Ramirez Rumors

Here's the latest on rumors involving Callie Torres - and rumors that Sara Ramirez may be leaving the show (it doesn't look like that's true) - from TV Guide's Matt Mitovich ...

Q: I heard a rumor that Sara Ramirez has been offered a new TV show in which she will star. While I question the reliability of the source, I hope this is true. She is a talented actress who does not get any recognition or decent writing for her Grey's Anatomy character.

A: "Que sera, Sara?" you ask? Ramirez's rep says, "We haven't heard that rumor" about her being courted for a series of her own. In the meantime, I'm told that Grey's Anatomy's bi-curious Callie Torres will pick up where she and Erica left off, this time with the pediatric surgeon, Arizona, being played by Jessica Capshaw beginning January 8. But contrary to what you may have heard, these two won't start steaming up until Capshaw's third (of at least several) episodes.

More Grey's Anatomy Spoilers and Rumors

With speculation swirling that T.R. Knight wants out of Grey's Anatomy, people have all but written off his beloved character, George O'Malley - this fan site included.

But Eric Dane insists it's not official, and this recent news / spoiler item we came across indicates that maybe - just maybe - George's departure is not a done deal.

This from TV Guide's Matt Mitovich, in response to a reader inquiry ...

Q: Is there any indication that Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes is going to adjust her stories because of all of the recent negative feedback?

A: I doubt that Rhimes will alter any master plans, especially when it comes to the Izzie-Denny romance which, though polarizing, seems destined to serve some greater purpose. Now, speaking of "negative feedback," I've got at least one inside source telling me that T.R. Knight's apparent disenchantment with Grey's Anatomy might not necessarily result in him exiting the series early. Wouldn't it be refreshing to see cooler heads prevail?

Oh, O

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Latest From Eric Dane

Here's a little piece of Grey's Anatomy gossip from the spoiler Q&A in EW today, courtesy of Eric Dane. Nothing particularly new, but certainly worth passing along ...

Q: Please, please, please tell me there's a chance T.R. Knight (George O'Malley) is not leaving Grey's Anatomy! Will they really let one of the original five leave?

A: Let's ask Knight's co-star, Eric Dane: "I have not heard confirmation [that he's leaving] yet. I don't know anything about when or how. If that happens, of course I would be bummed. He's a great guy to work with and a great character for the show, but he's gotta do what he feels is right." For his part, Dane has no plans to flee Seattle Grace before his contract expires - particularly now that Mark is McSteaming up the sheets with Lexie. "It is a good place to work and there are good people behind and in front of the cameras. I'm not going anywhere. I just started getting some action again. Why would I leave?"
