Round Table News

The Seattle hospital featured on Grey's Anatomy is graced with more than mere cardiograms and emergency surgeries. The patients, nurses and doctors that comprise our favorite show conjure up moving memories and humorous hijinx. Every Thursday night, we laugh, cry, marvel ... and now we analyze! Each week, panelists on the Round Table will deliver their takes on the latest happenings between friends and enemies, old lovers and new. Agree with these views? Disagree? Let us know.

Grey's Anatomy Round Table: "All By Myself"

While fans gather in our Grey's Anatomy forum to discuss each character, couple and plot twist, the Insider staff comes together to talk about some of the best moments and share opinions regarding the latest episode of our favorite medical drama.

Topics for our "All By Myself" Round Table include weekly impressions of Denny, Cristina's decision, Callie and Sadie, memorable quotes and much more ...

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the episode?

McCritic: The exchange between Lexie and Mark, as the former undressed in front of the latter. Lexie's constant pleading of "teach me" was a) in character, because Lexie isn't exactly the confident, seductive type; and b) HOT!

missingBurke: So many choices, but this Mer-Der quote / exchange was my favorite.

iheartizzie: Even if you're not a fan of Alex and Izzie together, you had to love the "I frickin' love you" speech. I also enjoyed Owen's telling Cristina to go with her gut, then expalining why.

Bad Little Grey

Lexie's "Teach me, teach me" quote won over at least one Insider staff writer.

2. Did Cristina make the right choice?

iheartizzie: Anybody but Izzie would have been the right choice. Can you imagine Denny in the O.R., with his running commentary throughout the amputation? Distracting!

McCritic: Yes. The solo surgery was about safety, not friendship. Meredith semi-apologizing for the fight between her and Cristina was nothing compared to Alex simply listing his qualifications for the procedure.

missingBurke: Much as I love the Meredith-Cristina frienship I would have to say yes. It's about saving lives and Cristina did what she thought was right, end of story.

Grey's Anatomy Round Table: "In the Midnight Hour"

While fans gather in our Grey's Anatomy forum to discuss each character, couple and plot twist, the Insider staff comes together to talk about some of the best moments and share opinions regarding the latest episode of our favorite medical drama.

Topics for our "In the Midnight Hour" Round Table include Bailey's new challenge, the interns' punishment (or lack thereof), Meredith and Cristina's fight and more ...

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the episode?

McCritic: When Denny told Izzie it was okay for her to go sleep with Alex: It's okay. I'll be right here. (You've broken me down, Shonda. Hooray for ghost Denny!!!)

missingBurke: Tie between Mark telling Callie she's beautiful after she had her nose broken, and Derek's perplexed "Who's making a porno movie in Izzie's room?"

iheartizzie: I loved Alex's refusal to leave Izzie's side, no matter what a mess she is. If there's a saving grace to the Denny story line, which I find a bit tired (albeit intriguing, certainly), it will be seeing how Alex reacts as things unfold.

Meredith and Cristina Picture

Was Cristina justified in being upset with Meredith?

2. Should Meredith have stood up for more for Cristina?

iheartizzie: I see Cristina's point, that Mer should have shown solidarity, but Mer was put in a really tough spot there. It's hard to see how she could have seen that coming, or what she would have said to share the blame or take the heat.

McCritic: This fight felt forced. Meredith reacted with legitimate shock when the Chief asked Cristina about knowledge of any extracurricular behavior by the interns. How quickly did Cristina expert Meredith to think on her feet?

missingBurke: I think so. The situation unraveled rather quickly, but Meredith had an opportunity to jump in at least once and (intentionally or not) stood there idly.

Grey's Anatomy Round Table: "These Ties That Bind"

While fans gather in our Grey's Anatomy forum to discuss each character, couple and plot twist, the Insider staff comes together to talk about some of the best moments and share opinions regarding the latest episode of our favorite medical drama.

Topics for our Round Table for "These Ties That Bind" include the show's new direction, Cristina and Owen, Little Sloan and Little Grey, and the lack of MerDer drama ...

1. So, Grey's Anatomy appears to be the new Ghost Whisperer. Are you happy with this direction?

McCritic: No. I'm all for fairy tale love... in fairy tales! Shonda and the writers can't take pride in how realistic their show depicts relationships, only to create a story line based around interaction with a ghost.

missingBurke: I'm all for more Denny Duquette, but this development strains credulity.

iheartizzie: Hallucinations occur when an individual has a tumor in the temporal lobe of one's brain. Therefore, I can only imagine this angle is a way for the show to slowly reveal Izzie's long-rumored brain tumor. If that's the case, you gotta hand it to the writers for crafting an interesting (and handsome!) way to bring on the disease.

It

Has Dr. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) officially lost it?

2. Will Mark heed Derek's advice and keep "Little Sloan" away from "Little Grey?"

iheartizzie: Unlikely. That's like someone on The Bachelor actually finding love on the show.

McCritic: I'm actually gonna say yes. Via his relationship with Callie, a softer side has developed to Mark. He'll respect his best friend's wishes.

missingBurke: Of course not. Mark isn't a bad guy, but the part of the body he thinks with isn't exactly in his head.

Grey's Anatomy Round Table: "Rise Up"

While fans gather in our Grey's Anatomy forum to discuss each character, couple and plot twist, the Insider staff comes together to talk about some of the best moments and share opinions regarding the latest episode of our favorite medical drama.

Topics for our Round Table for "Rise Up" include Erica Hahn's departure, Mark Sloan's future, Denny Duquette's latest return, and various kinds of alcohol ...

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the episode?

McCritic: Like my new favorite character, Dr. Hunt, allow me to be serious for a moment: I appreciated his intense approach to patient care when he yelled at Karev for carelessly treating a patient: "What you did was treat a man who's fighting to live like he's already dead. You have no sense, no decency and no respect!"

missingBurke: It was more of a sequence than a specific quote, but I loved the Chief operating the robo-patient and messing with George. LOL.

iheartizzie: Given the events of the past week, I found Erica telling Callie "there is no gray area here" a little ironic, because clearly when it comes to network execs determining what's taboo and what isn't, that Grey area is pretty massive.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan

2. Denny: We want more, or enough is enough?

iheartizzie: I love Denny, and always have, but is this the third time he's been back since the Season Two finale? At some point, Izzie and Shonda both have to let it go.

McCritic: Enough! Jeffrey Dean Morgan is starring in Watchmen next year. The guy isn't in need of work.

missingBurke: Denny's the best! Challenging as it is to find new ways to incorporate him into the plot, and I say keep it up! Wouldn't mind more Kyle Chandler, too ...

Round Table: "Life During Wartime"

While fans gather in our Grey's Anatomy forum to discuss each character, couple and plot twist, the Insider staff comes together to talk about some of the best moments and share opinions regarding the latest episode of our favorite drama.

Topics for our Round Table for "Life During Wartime" include all things Dr. Hunt, being the Chief, and the unconventional but entertaining Mark/Callica love triangle ...

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the episode?

McCritic: When Callie invited Mark for a drink and said, "You're good for more than just sex," I melted. Let's hope a non-lesbian feels the same way soon and falls for this hilarious man!

missingBurke: I liked Hunt's willingness to take advice from Derek and Sloan, saying this is day one for him as well. Just when you think you have this guy figured out, there's another component to him. I also loved Cristina's classic "RUN!"

iheartizzie: I'm going to go with Richard's heartfelt apology (or non-apology) to Meredith. He's made a lot of mistakes in his life and it's not always easy to admit them, let alone make things right, but it was very big of him to try.

Callie Torres and Erica Hahn KissMarcus

2. More likely to end up as a couple: Callie and Erica, or Callie and Mark?

iheartizzie: After this past episode, Callie and Mark seem more likely to me. Will new intern Sadie be a better match for Erica than Callie, who ends up with Mark?

McCritic: Callie and Mark. The former is scarcely even hiding her reservations about Erica. Callie may have gotten involved in that relationship because men were letting her down; but Mark is now showing her that we sometimes get it right.

missingBurke: I'm not sure, but I am enjoying the evolution of the Sloan character. We learn a little bit more about him every week - something Grey's Anatomy is really good at - without sacrificing his trademark sarcastic one-liners.

Round Table: "There's No 'I' in Team"

While fans gather in our Grey's Anatomy forum to discuss each character, couple and plot twist, the Insider staff comes together to talk about some of the best moments and share opinions regarding the latest episode of our favorite drama.

Topics for our Round Table for "There's No 'I' in Team" include memorable quotes, Mer-Der, George-Lexie, Callie-Erica, and Izzie-Alex drama ...

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the episode?

McCritic: When Izzie said to Alex: "I care about you, and I'm not gonna go crazy, and I'm not gonna try to kill myself and I'm not gonna stop caring about you no matter how hard you push me away." I'm sorry. Didn't Izzie already go crazy when she broke up George's marriage to Callie?

missingBurke: Izzie's Good Will Hunting-esque "I care about you, I care about you, I care about you ..." That scene was really powerful and I like them together.

iheartizzie: After his intern referred to him as O'Malley and leaves, I loved George's meek reply (to no one in particular), "He probably should say Doctor O'Malley." Vintage George. As for whether Lexie going off on him was warranted, see next question.

Locker Room Action

2. Is Dr. O'Malley really a jerk or was Lexie out of line?

iheartizzie: George is unbelievably clueless if he can't pick up her signals, and why he didn't explain to her that he didn't ask for any interns is beyond me. But he's no jerk. As a venerable Lexipedia, young Grey should know that you have to be particularly overt with George or he won't take a hint. You can't get mad at O'Malley for being O'Malley.

McCritic: With Meredith maturing, I guess the show needed one Grey sister to enter Irrational Land. Lexie was very much out of line. And would you even wanna be an intern for the man you're in love with? Might lead to seriously - seriously! - awkward situations.

missingBurke: I'm with Lexie. It's one thing to not realize someone has feelings for you, but ignoring the poor girl is quite another. He made her feel invisible.

Round Table: "Here Comes the Flood"

While fans gather in our Grey's Anatomy forum to discuss each character, couple and plot twist, the Insider staff comes together to talk about some of the best moments and share opinions regarding the latest episode of our favorite drama.

Topics for our Round Table for "Here Comes the Flood" include memorable quotes, Mer in therapy, Izzie and Alex's housing situation and George's exam ...

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the episode?

McCritic: The way Cristina described speaking to Derek. We love the McDreamy one, but we sometimes love Cristina's brutal honesty even more: "Well there's pain and then there's torture."

missingBurke: A tie between 1. Cristina's dismissive [to Lexie] "Don't think. Know." and 2. Mark's [to Callie] "You want a spanking?" So funny!

iheartizzie: I confess, the softer side of Alex Karev appeals to my inner cheeseball. When he was explaining to the man how his pancreatic cancer was discovered at Stage One, and how his luck has turned around, he nearly brought a tear to my eye.

Eye Roll

2. Will George pass his internship test?

iheartizzie: I hope so. The results of our George and Lexie poll are mixed, but I actually think they'd be a great couple. If she helps him earn a second shot at the text and then pass it, romantic fireworks can't be too far off, can they?

McCritic: Yes. As much as I love the Chief, it can't be good for George's career to remain his intern forever.

missingBurke: He has to. As he said, he's not married and cheating on his wife with his best friend this time. You're golden, O'Malley.

Round Table: "Dream a Little Dream of Me"

While fans gather in our forum to discuss each character, couple and plot twist, the Grey's Anatomy Insider staff members come together to talk about some of the key moments and share their opinions regarding the latest episode of our favorite drama.

We apologize for the delay in posting our Round Table for "Dream a Little Dream of Me." Better late than never, right? Topics this week include memorable Grey's Anatomy quotes, perceptions of characters old and new, and the future of MerDer ...

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the premiere?

McCritic: Lexie's take on adultery: "It happens. People make mistakes. They ... sleep with the wrong person and ... they hide it but, if you ask me, it's the part that comes after that matters. The part where you make it right. And I think you're off to a good start." Sums up Grey's Anatomy perfectly, doesn't it? No show on TV examines the imperfect nature of humans in such a manner. Thanks so much for that, Shonda.

missingBurke: My favorite was Owen's recurring, one-word quote: So?

iheartizzie: When Alex demands to know what Izzie said to Meredith: "Did she tell you that I cried? Because that is a lie!" This is great because Izzie did not actually say this, and because being perceived as nice really does turn some guys off.

She is So Cute

2. Lexie Grey: Cute or annoying?

iheartizzie: I heart Lexie and think she and George would be great together (eventually, under the right circumstances) - unlike some of the other girls he's been with to date.

McCritic: She's very cute. But incessant crushing on George by beautiful women - has he had time to breathe between Callie, Izzie and now Lexie - is annoying. Leave some for the rest of us!

missingBurke: Lexie Grey does kind of irk me sometimes. I've found the character to be a bit inconsistent. I know it's not her fault but it just seems like Chyler Leigh is trying too hard.

Grey's Anatomy Round Table Discussion: "Freedom"

While fans gather in our forum to discuss each character, couple and plot twist, the Grey's Anatomy Insider staff comes together to talk about the key moments and share their opinions regarding the latest episode of our favorite drama.

Round Table topics for "Freedom" include memorable Grey's Anatomy quotes and kisses, Emmy winning performances, unanswered questions and predictions ...

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the finale?

McCritic: I can't recall the exact wording - and, no, it's not because I was crying so hard that my nose blowing drowned out the precise quote... I swear - but when Dr. Webber romantically told Adele that he was her husband and he was coming home, it almost made the confusing back and forth between these characters for the last two years worthwhile.

missingBurke: Have to go with this Meredith Grey quote (that it was interrupted by the kiss helps): "Now I'm here feeling like a lame ass loser. I got all whole and healed and you don't show up. And now it's all ruined because you took so long to come home! And I couldn't even find that bottle of champagne..."

iheartizzie: So many possibilities here, but when the "new" Mark told Callie how he wished he was all someone thought about and encouraged her to follow her heart with Erica, that was particularly awesome. I love Mark.

Torres and Sloan

2. Which of the many kisses in this episode was your favorite?

iheartizzie: They were all great, but in an outside-the-box pick, I'm going with the love-struck teen clinical trial patients, Beth and Jeremy. Most of the time the medical cases exist solely as devices through which our favorite characters interact, but these two were really terrific and helped make the episode great.

McCritic: Alex and Izzie. Not because I wanna see these two get back together, but because it was a vulnerable moment, played to perfection by Justin Chambers, that actually did not result in misguided sex for a change.

missingBurke: That montage was amazing, but nothing compares to Meredith and Derek. That kiss was an entire year in the making, and worth the wait.

Round Table Discussion: "Losing My Mind"

While fans gather in our forum to discuss each character, couple and plot twist, the Grey's Anatomy Insider staff comes together to talk about the key moments and share their opinions regarding the latest episode of our favorite drama.

Our topics for "Losing My Mind" include the Callie-Erica kiss, the Miranda-Tucker fight, the Alex-Ava weirdness and the Mer-Der reunion ...

1. By taking care of Rebecca himself, is Alex being loving or ignorant?

McCritic: He's trying to be loving, but Alex is a doctor. He should know better. In this case, ignorance is far from bliss.

iheartizzie: I know he's trying to be nice, but come on, Alex Karev. Keep your eyes on the true prize. I heart Izzie and I know you do, too. Make the move.

missingBurke: Karev thought he was gonna be a father. In his disappointment at that falsity, he's now treating Rebecca like a confused child. Is it misguided? Perhaps. But it's out of love.

Get Out

2. Choose a side: Tucker or Bailey?

iheartizzie: Love is a losing game, despite the best of intentions. There is no right, no wrong. Just deep-rooted problems and life decisions not fixed by even the longest of arguments. Kudos to the writers for this very realistic scene.

McCritic: Tucker. He's right that Bailey is being short-sighted by putting little Tuck in day care just so she can finish charts by his side.

missingBurke: I feel bad for Tucker, but his analogy of performing surgery versus parenting just didn't make sense. Bailey is more in the right.
